Year round school What would be better: one long summer break in traditional school or shorter breaks in year round school? “The average dropout for year round school is 2%” (Niche). The dropout rate for public school students is way higher than it is for year round school. Year round school is better for students because staying engaged in school, decreasing student absences, and stress. This is not only a more effective way of learning but also it will help get rid of stress while not losing any important school time. The short but more frequent breaks can help decrease stress but it would get rid of students being able to learn how to become better adults. Year round school is better than traditional school in most ways but since year round school is during the summer it makes it so students can not have summer jobs. Getting the chance to have a summer job is very important because it takes people out of their comfort zone and puts them in a place where they have to work. In Iowa farming is one of the main jobs, so if children had to be in school during the summer when they are needed for farming it would be bad for them and the owners of the farm.
