Have you ever just been so stressed out from school and wish you could just have a break, but winter break or spring break seem SO far away? Well, if you feel like this, year-round school might be a good option for you. Some people believe that year-round school should be required. However, others think that it is not beneficial. Year-round school should be required because YRE multi-track calendars can enroll more students, it increases retention, and stress is minimized.

First, year-round schools that use YRE multitrack calendars can enroll more students. In the article Year-Round School Pros and Cons, it states that “According to the California Department of Education, using a multitrack year-round calendar can allow a school to enroll up to 50 percent more students,” (Watson, 1). This means that if a district is getting bigger and they don’t have enough money to build another school, more kids can go to school when using the YRE multitrack calendar. If teachers are using the first few weeks of the school year re-teaching stuff the students forget over the summer, which is going to cut into the time the teacher planned to teach other things.
