The current school year for students in America has a summer break incorporated within it. There are people who believe that this is not the best format for students and that their education would benefit more with schools switching to a schedule that goes all year round and incorporates the off days throughout the year. There is evidence that supports both sides of this debate, the fact is that students benefit more while having their break all at once in the summer and not having their lessons interrupted. The current school schedule has the best benefits for students because they can focus strictly on their lessons during the school year without any distractions or constant breaks. School administrator positions have very high burnout rates and when school is all year round these rates do nothing but increase. In schools that go all year round many administrators find themselves only going through the motions and will have no time for self-reflection and to plan for the future of the school educational programs (Wildman, 1999, p.465). Year round schooling takes a toll on the students and faculty. When going all year people begin to wear down and they do not get as much out of the school day as they do when they are fresh and ready to go. The problem is not whether administrators can manage these year round schools in the short term, but managing these schools in the long term is what causes concern (Wildman, 1999, p.466). It also has an effect on the pay of teachers as it limits the amount of time that they can make money. These people have suggested a different schedule that eliminates the summer break and incorporates the off days throughout the entire year and students will have frequent smaller breaks instead of one big break. These people believe that this will improve learning because it gives the students less time to forget about the material that they have learned in between lessons. Although the idea might not sound bad, this schedule of schooling actually does the opposite. If the schools were to switch to the schedule with constant breaks the lessons would be frequently interrupted with off days and it would make it more difficult for the teachers to plan their lessons to be effective. In the current schedule when the break is all at once it gives the teachers the opportunity to plan their lessons without these frequent interruptions and days off of school. Having the break all at once is the best thing to increase the learning of the students while they are in the classroom. This is due to the fact that students will be more focused on their work without being distracted by their constant breaks and this is best for effective
