Teachers have arguably one of the most important jobs in America, educating the next generation. In individual schools, teachers are key to a successful education corporation, so their satisfaction is important. Current year-round schools have shown that teachers are more satisfied and happier with their job in a year-round schooling system. In the article, “Year-Round Schooling- How It Affects Teachers,” Dr. Matthew Lynch, an educational consultant and owner of Lynch Consulting Group LLC as well as a former K-12 social studies and special education teacher, talks about the the effects of a year-round schooling system on teachers. This is a sufficient salary, but it is 22% under the national average of teaching salaries (Indeed). If year-round schooling were implemented, then most teachers would have increased satisfaction and most likely a salary boost. Year-round schooling not only creates more money for the teachers, but it also creates a better public perception of educators. The California Department of Education, an organization that oversees a diverse 6,200,000 students, 295,000 teachers, and 10,000 schools, reports, “There is an increased public perception of teachers as professionals [when they work year round]” (CDE). Now that the teachers are what the corporate world would call “constantly working,” they are looked upon as more professional. This increases their success and happiness as a more respected member of society. In a traditional school, there is a risk that the teachers could feel neglected because they are not taken seriously. Teacher satisfaction, happiness, and success should not be taken for granted. Year-round schooling increases teacher satisfaction, making all schools
