Today, it is estimated that one everyone in two hundred girls aged between thirteen and nineteen self-harm, and there is a rising number of boys who do the same. Remember, these statistics are only from the actions that were reported; there are much more people self-harm themselves, maybe even someone you know. So, why would someone think so horrible about themselves to hurt themselves in such away? One problem could be Cyberbullying. Cyber bullying is a major epidemic faced by millions of teens and adults every day. The Ophelia Project sent out a fact sheet stating that 60% of victims from cyber bullying indicated that they had felt emotions such as sadness, anger, frustration, and many more negative emotions from online bullying. The same 60% also reported that cyberbullying affected their everyday life, such as in school, home, and work. It’s not that simple, and I know from experience. Psychologist Eden Foster explains this in a radio interview, “[The] use of technology has extended beyond simple entertainment. For example, teens often use their cell phones to contact their parents in emergency situations, not just to send texts with their friends or play games.” When you’re caught up in all these wrong messages, you feel like no one will listen to you and what you have to say. The victim's minds are filled with these words and won’t think about how to get away from it, and they probably won't considering social media is everywhere. Another likely thing that could happen is that the online bullying is going on in everyday life. Bystanders won’t say anything because of phrases like “snitches get stitches”. No one wants to be the victim of bullying, physical and online. And that goes same for the victim. They think that if they tell on their attacker, the bullying will get worse, but when I did it, my whole life turned upside
