Each year, everyone looks forward spring break. Unfortunately, the Oskaloosa School District decided to give a spring break every other year. The reasoning behind this change in unclear. It has complicated the schedules even more. Making it harder for children and their families to make time for vacations. Spring break should be given every year. Some families might not have a child in a summer sport, but the ones that do could benefit from a spring break. Children who play summer sports don 't have time to go on vacations. Summer sports take up over half the summer, and fall sports will start practice one or two weeks before school does. This gives less than a month to squeeze in a vacation. Spring break is a perfect time for these families to take a vacation without feeling rushed. …show more content…

Without a spring break students and teachers are stuck inside all day, only giving about four hours of daylight. Spring weather is perfect for dogs to run and enjoy the cooler temperatures without overheating. Going outside is much more pleasing when the weather is bearable. The activities to do are endless. Two four-day weekends are given on non spring break years. This is nice, but it often gets cut short due to snow days. The first four-day weekend is in March, and the second is in April. However, last year the second four-day weekend was cut short due to a snow makeup day. It 's inconvenient for parents as well as students. If Oskaloosa would have a spring break every year it would make it easier for parents to remember.
Giving a spring break every year would solve a lot of problems. Families with active children would have time for a vacation.
