Introduction
College tuition has increased tremendously over the past years. Once students graduate college, they are supposed to be able to start fresh with a new chapter in their lives, but college tuition is making it nearly impossible. Student loan debt has always been an issue but now student debt is increasing because of how expensive college tuition is. This issue also causes stress in students when trying to prepare for their future. College tuition has never been this high and sadly, the prices get higher as the years go on. If college tuition were lower, this response would result in fewer student loans and more students would attend college.

When it comes to applying for colleges, most students look for the best campus life and intelligent colleges. After this realization, most colleges have noticed that the environment and extracurricular activities attract numerous students. Because of this, most students are willing to pay anything to be in the best environment for themselves. The better the college is the more expensive it is to go to that college. Many students feel pressured to get a college degree so that they can pursue their dreams in the future. According to the University of Massachusetts, the main factors thrown into college tuition are residency, modality, the type of program, textbooks, school supplies, and parking (UMass Global 2023). These are all requirements to go to college. After all these factors, money adds up very quickly. Residency is one of the most expensive factors. Most students find it most convenient to live on-campus, but housing and tuition costs can skyrocket. This is essential in our lives. because housing is a necessity it is ridiculous to have college students pay this much money just to live where they are attending college. Textbooks are another factor that students have no control over. For instance, a student should not have to pay over $100 for a class they have to take for their major, this is something that the university should provide. The programs and modality are one of the only flexible factors in college because the student gets to choose what is best for them.
