Increasing the minimum wage does have its pros, but it also has it’s cons. One of those cons is by increasing the federal minimum wage, highschool dropout rates will increase. Since teenagers take up most of the minimum wage jobs, increasing the pay will encourage them to drop out. A study and survey has shown that about 43.7% of minimum wage workers are high school and/or college dropouts. Also, if the minimum wage was raised to $15 an hour, it will make teenagers think that they can live off of that job and don't see the need to finish their education.

In conclusion, a federal minimum wage increase will significantly improve the standard of living of low-wage workers. To meet their basic needs, workers must be given a living wage. It is not only morally correct to do so, but also beneficiary to both ends. The increase in wages allows for a more supportable income, but it also stimulates the economy.
In every good there’s bad and in every bad there’s good. Everyone thinks that increasing or keeping the same minimum wage could either make the economy better or worse. Supporters that want an increase in the minimum wage claim that the wage increase is a way to fight poverty. They don’t know that when raising the minimum wage, it will cause inflation and increase unemployment. Increasing the minimum wage by a dollar is a bad idea.

Some activists also argue that one cannot make a living off minimum wage alone. Others claim that if the the minimum wage is increased, then corporations and other business will respond to their increase in expenses by laying off employees, and turning to technological advancements to replace the unskilled labor. After researching heavily on the issue, I have come to concur that a push for minimum wage increase will result in individuals no longer living below the poverty line, government aid decreasing, and consumer spending increasing.
In today’s day and age, the current issue of increasing minimum wage is becoming a dilemma. There are two sides to this debate, whether to increase it or whether to keep it the same for the next upcoming years? The minimum wage is very low where many families are struggling to make ends meet. Our wealthy country should not let our working class citizens suffer any longer. If a low income worker needs government aid that has to be paid for by taxpayers. Increasing the minimum wage comes with many benefits to workers and the government such as more income means more money individuals will be able to spend and families that rely on government aid because of low wages will ideally no longer need them because of higher payment they will receive.
