What is invention?
Invention is the discovery of what interests the writer and pursues them to write.

How does one understand their assignment?
For someone to understand their assignment fully, they must know what is being asked in order to correctly do the assignment.

How does a writer set limits?
A writer sets limits by writing only what is being asked and needed for the task. The writer shouldn’t ramble or go astray from the topic in order to keep the paper going.

How do you know if your paper is too long?
If there isn’t a certain length given for the paper, then the paper should be long enough to address the topic or topics. The writer shouldn’t readdress the same points stated in their writing.

There’s expressive writing, informative writing, and persuasive writing. Expressive writing is usually addressed when writing something personal and is when the writer uses personal feelings or experiences, an example is a personal journal. Informative writing addresses a person that the writer is trying to teach something to, an example of this is a teacher writing a paper for students to read and review. And finally there’s persuasive writing, persuasive writing is used to convince the reader to agree or disagree with the topic written, an example of this is a research paper.

What are some different audiences that the writer may address?
There is an individual group, a specialized audience, or there’s a general and or universal audience. An example of an individual group would be a teacher/professor. An example of a group as an audience would be fellow classmates. An example of a specialized audience would be a group of medical doctors. And an example of a general and or universal audience would be readers of a textbook or magazine.
