Peter Wiggins is not a mundane person. He is the eldest of three children. His siblings are: Valentine and Ender. All brilliant, and yet only Ender could make it into Battle School. So how can Ender make it into the Battle School and Peter not? Maybe it is the fact that he his very manipulative, or it might have something to do with the fact that he does not have a tinge of kindness in his body. This is evident in the beginning of the book when he states to Ender that he will kill him (132). Everyone can agree that Peter is a brilliant child. Peter is so smart, in fact, that he does not learn from his teachers. He already knows what they are teaching when they teach it. So when he goes home he looks into whatever they are learning at school at a college level. Like when they dissected a frog in class, Peter went home to study “... the binding of cells into organisms through the philotic collation of DNA” (124). He is flirting with the fine line between psychotic and sane. In the beginning of the story Peter threatens to kill Ender out of jealousy (13). Then later on, But Valentine knew. She had seen a squirrel half-skinned, spiked by its little hands and feet with twigs pushed into the dirt. She pictured Peter trapping it, staking it, then carefully parting and peeling back the skin without breaking into the abdomen, watching the muscles twist and ripple. How long had it taken the squirrel to die (123)? This is a clear sign that indicates Peter is not a stable person. Peter is not chosen for the Battle School mainly because he is increadibly cruel. This trait along with him being brilliant and manipulative reasons he is not chosen. With these traits Peter could easily take control of the world. Peter certainly is one interesting
