Strong words outlast the paper that they are written on(Joseph Bruchac). This code talker was one of the so many that served this country in World War II. The first ever code talker was Philip Johnston he was the reason why the codes were invented (Code Maker: History of the Navajos Code Talkers). Philip Johnston served in World War I but he was too old to fight in World War II at the age of 50 but he decided to see if they could make a code using some of the Navajo languages. The Navajos had no alphabet in their language so they were taught us alphabet. When he asked the Marines if they would at least try it out. Johnson was a big help in all of this if he did not suggest this we might not have won many of the wars that we have fought.

The camp they made the codes and had boot camp was at Camp Elliott they went here because that is where the marines wanted to put them so they wouldn't have far to go when they were done with training (Navajo Code Talkers.¨ The Navy Department Library.) The original Navajos wherein boot camp for about a year because they had to make the codes and learn them. When the new Navajos came in they only had to be in boot camp until they could pass the Navajo Code Test. Well once they passed the test they went straight into battle. So after boot camp two of the Navajo Code Talkers became recruiters for the Navajos (Navajo Code Talkers and the Unbreakable Code).
The codes where so hard for anybody else except for the Navajos who knew it had to be with the guard at all times. Even if they went somewhere close to the house they still couldn't leave without them (The Code That Was Never Broken). When they left the base of Camp Eliott they had to be a company by a marine because some army men mistaken them has Japs (Knapp, Frankey). The army men at almost taken out two Navajos because they thought they were Japs. One army troop actually took a Navajo Code Talker captive because they thought he was a Jap (Honoring Native American Code
