Have you ever wondered what makes dreams happen? Well in mythology of course there are myths about dreams and gods of dreams. I will be telling you how people thought dreams originated in the Greek and Roman times. Well, Phobetor and Morpheus are the gods of dreams, but they serve people different dreams. Phobetor gives you nightmares, and Morpheus gives you good dreams.
Phobetor is the God of nightmares and specializes in dreams involving animals. In which this he is responsible for night-time fears and phobias. People often have nightmares from conditions like depression, and what caused that depression, like mother or father was abusive, and they are afraid of their mother or father. They have a nightmare about their mother or father abusing them or taking something from them. According to Greek mythology, Phobetor is responsible for all of this.

People often refer to Morpheus as the Sandman, which if you’ve never heard of the Sandman he has this “Magic sand” and he puts it on the eyes of people for them to sleep and have good dreams.
Morpheus and Phobetor are related, and Morpheus is more popular because he is the leader of dreams; also the leader of the Oneiroi. The Oneiroi is all him and his three brothers which include: Phobetor, Morpheus, and Phantasos. He is the strongest and likes to protect his family. His main weapon is his wings, but he also uses his wings not just for a weapon but also carrying his father; which is Hypnos. Thier mother is unknown.
