Photography in graphic design is fairly new, but it is being called photo illustration. It is called photo illustration because you are illustrating something through the use of photography (Stofsick). You also need to know the basic skills of listening to others, not interrupting, asking good questions, and talking to others. You need to be able to know how to notice a problem and figure out the best way to solve it.
