1.A. How did Asia become a continent, who were the key players that determined the continent's creation, and the naming of the area as such? The word “Asia” was known to be derived from the Greek word “Ἀσία”. It was believed that Herodotus, a Greek Historian and was referred to as the “Father of History, because he mentioned the word Asia and described the area in full detail in his Histories. Although there is a great possibility that he was not the first person to name Asia, he was stilled recognize since his writings were the eldest writings that named the area as Asia. However, Asia at that time did not pertain to the continent, instead, it referred to an area at the eastern side of Aegean Sea and is presently part of Turkey.

1.B. How do you describe the geography of Asia? Discuss the physical boundaries that separate Asia from Europe and Africa. What were the reasons for the drawing of such boundaries?
