Is Physical Therapy a Good Career for Me?
“Physical Therapist or PT’S are health care professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to the very oldest, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move…”(APTA 2015). PT’s are responsible for giving a person mobility to change their live for the better through different exercises and treatments. They are also responsible for “Prevent the onset symptoms and progression of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities that may result from diseases and disorders, conditions or injuries.”(APTA 2015) Since PT’s work with a wide range of patients they have to deal with a large range of different disabilities. I personally feel that I posses the qualities of a good PT I have patience, understanding and I am physically in shape. When it comes to patience I am test often because I work in customer service and I often have to deal with rude costumers and in order to provide good customer service I have to be patient and calm even with the toughest costumers. I know that customer service and working with a patient are different but it has taught be to be patient with those who cause complications. When it comes to physical fitness I have been a dancer for 11 years which has caused me to become fit and would be especially helpful in demonstrating exercises such as flexibility exercises. Outside of those qualities I enjoy helping those who are unable to help themselves and working in the physical therapy field would allow me to express my joy of helping others to become physically enabled. If I were to go into physical therapy I would want to work with children because I have a good connection with them and that connection could make it easier to do therapy with the children. I’ve learned a great deal this semester about physical therapy but am not completely sure if I want to go in to the field. Although it seems to be a rewarding and beneficial career I will continue to explore my options and keep physical therapy in
