Hello, First of all, American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Code of Ethics for physical therapists (PTs), outlines the moral commitments for all PTs which mainly based on five roles of PTs, seven core values and multiple realms of ethical actions. Code of Ethics (CE) mainly explained by eight principles. In my undergrads, was used to study superficially on code of ethics but after taking National Physical Therapy Examination-NPTE,I, learn more about it in details year ago. After polishing CE now, particularly in my case, I was thinking differently on principle (#7),(PTs should promote advance association and business practice in favor of patients) because working as employee in privet organization, also I thoughts less in this direction of promoting practice in society, pro-bono services initially but after working under a ideal supervisor who guide and promote me to provide pro-bono under patient's circumstances of financially disadvantages, uninsured/underinsured from this lesson I, teach physical therapist assistance and physical therapy students in same ethical manners which helps in quality of life and to promoting the physical therapy in public, furthermore, I'll also focus on that PTs is also in charge of stewards of human services resources so need to utilize effectively …show more content…
Using Swisher, Arslanian, and Davis. (2005), as a source article, RIPS model helps in good quality decision by following step by step process in dilemma conditions of PTs by adhering with ethical principles, moreover, realms (differentiate in categories of individual, organizational, socials), individual process (consist of morals in sensitivity, judgment, courage and motivation) and situation (includes dilemma, issue, distress, temptation and silence) as well, four decision making steps follows as recognized ethical issue, reflect, decide right thing, implementation. For instance, I am working in privet sector and third party payer system, have a ethical issue in SNF where I used to go as per demands, my supervisor used to say after evaluation always set RUG level little bit above the requirements because below particular hours third party do not pay and company have loss. I recognized this ethical issue and request him that RUG level should be as per patients treatment tolerance we write as 45-75minutes (6times week for 30days) but patient is geriatric and hardly able to do 30min exercises with rest so it is not right thing but I am working as per demand so supervisor do not consider my suggestions.
