Torture is the act through which utmost suffering and pain are caused intentionally to any person. The suffering may be mental or physical. Torture is normally done on a person for the purpose of obtaining a confession or information by intimidating or coercing. Sometimes the torture is done on suspected criminals in an official capacity (Hickey, 2013). Thus, torture is the knowing inflicting of severe physical and mental pain and suffering by individuals or state authorities for some purpose. Some very common methods used in physical torture include the use of electric shocks, beating, and submersion, stretching of the victims, suffocation, rape and sexual assault, and burning. The convention rules are not applicable to terrorists and spies. The rules and guidelines of The Convention against Torture apply only on a member country's own soil. This is the explanation as to why torturing of terror suspects and prisoners is applicable and legally acceptable in Guantanamo Bay (White, 2009).
In other typical scenarios, other than an example of a TTB (Ticking time bomb), It is right and acceptable to torture a terrorist suspect because the risks that one single terrorist puts the lives of very may people is too big to be ignored. Using torturing methods in the Interrogation of one person may help to unveil very important information to prevent current and future possible plotting of terror activities.

For terrorists, the utilitarian principle gets to apply hypothetically. Torture is acceptable and justifiable because the torturer subjects only one person to excruciating pain to save many people who are at risk. Torture of Terrorist helps avert danger, torturing somebody only causes temporary physical pain to them, but the killing threat aspect of terrorist causes thousands of permanent damage in terms of death and destruction. This is deemed malicious, unlawful and unfair because the American constitution protects all its people, criminal suspects inclusive. Although in some situations, the government tries to explain the reasons for torturing the terror suspects. The people that mainly get involved in the torturing of terror suspects in America include the police, paramilitary forces, prison officers and state-controlled forces (Hickey, 2013).
