Picasso's mural Guernica is quite the impressive work of art, not only for it's symbolism but also it's sheer size. This magnificent oil on canvas stands at a whopping 11 feet tall and 24.6 ft wide, and is an anti-war statement against the Nazi's bombing in a town called Guernica during the Spanish Civil War (PabloPicasso.org, 2009). The piece, I believe, best exemplifies cubism although this is widely debated and also shared aspects of other art types. The specific references that ties the piece of art in with the Cubist movement are the fragmented objects and figures, the limited colors. and the lack of the illusion of depth (O'Mahony, 2006).

It's important to note that while Picasso was primarly, and sometimes called the inventor of Cubism,
