For example, when the boys first build a fire atop the mountain and it leads to the forest below catching fire, Piggy calls them all a bunch of kids(Golding __). Piggy does this because he believes that the boys are acting without thinking and will cause harm to themselves and others if they continue with these reckless actions. This can also teach the reader the danger of acting before thinking, which in this case has lead to the destruction of much of the forest on the island. This destruction of the forest could’ve spread all over the island, destroying the only reliable food source the boys had, the fruit trees; and without a reliable source of food the boys would’ve spiraled into chaos fighting each other for food, leading to the fall of the society as everyone becomes more focused on food rather that democracy. One last example of a moral critique can be applied to the instance where Piggy’s glasses are taken from him towards the beginning of the book and dropped in the commotion, causing them to break(Golding ___). This was not a smart idea on the boys part, because they could’ve easily lost their way of making fire if Piggy’s glasses had gone through any more destruction then they already did. The boys didn’t really learn from this instance, but the reader was able to grasp how easily the boys could’ve lost their only way of being able to put an effort forth
