History is a comprised of individual choices. Those choices can work to include or exclude others. In 1957 nine black students chose to integrate Little Rock Central High School and a whole group of white kids worked to exclude them. There are three sets of primary source documents about the expulsion of one of these Little Rock Nine, Minnijean Brown. These document sets change one’s thinking about this expulsion because the first documents suggest that she was expelled for dumping chili on a white boy; the second sets of documents suggest that she was expelled because she retaliated against a white girl; and the final documents state that the expulsion was because she was acting as if she belonged at Central High School.

Have you ever heard of a novel by the author Edward Bloor by the name of Tangerine with the main characters name being Paul Fisher and the choices he makes and the resulting consequence? If you have not this is for sure the novel for you. In Edward Bloor’s novel Tangerine, one character’s choices and the consequences of these choices affect the development of the main character, Paul Fisher. In this story Paul Fisher is a very interesting 7th grade boy that makes some choices and the result of it is not that great. Paul also makes good choices but never gets a good consequence for it.

Mergens, 1990, requires public secondary schools to allow access to religiously based student groups on the same basis as other student clubs. The school administration denied a group of students their right to create a Christian after school club. The students intended for their club to have just the same privileges and club meetings as all other after school clubs. The schools excuse being that it lacked faculty support which led to the school and district being sued by the students.
Leaving last week’s class, my mind was darting in all sorts of directions. While the “Eyes on the Prize” excerpt gave me a concrete understanding of the historic events of the desegregation of Little Rock High School, “Little Rock Central High: 50 Years Later” brought up all sorts of observations and questions on race in America that I hadn’t necessarily thought to address before. Melinda, the main character in the book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, fell victim to this very stat. Typically girls in high school think about their next date, their next sporting event or their next trip to the shopping mall. In Melinda's case, events like when she was raped, when she called the police and when her friendship with Rachel was revived both positively and negatively impacted her life.

SUMMARY Bend it like Beckham is a comedy focusing on sports as well as on the British and Indian culture and way of life. It is the story of two ambitious 18 year old girls that both want to pursue a future in professional football. Teenager Jessminder Bhamra (Jess) is crazy about football and has big dreams of playing football professionally, just like her idol David Beckham. Though she only plays football in the park with her friends, she is naturally talented.
