The “Victim” of Delirium As an observer from the monastery who was assigned to watch over you during your time away from the monastery, I have observed that you did not promote the teachings of the monastery in a confident manner. It is your own fault that you are a victim of your family’s torture. I understand that the ideas of love, compassion, and forgiveness are leaving you open to your family’s ridicule. In “The grotesque in the plays of Enda Walsh” by Ondrˇej Pilny´, Pilny´ states, “The patterns of interaction among the characters in the three plays are clearly pathological in the sense of the Palo Alto communication theory: they are stuck in an endless repetition of the same, many of them face several double-bind situations, and unhindered communication about the nature of their relationship is impossible.” (Pilny´ 219) He is right in that your family and friends have all had the same conversations over and over again, but in different forms and times. Instead of moving forward, almost all conversations are redundant and barely build a new conversation. The position that you are in allows you to have meaningful conversation to help your family heal. You were not involved in any of the main source of drama, because you were not in love with any of the girls, nor were you really been involved in the troubles at that point in the play.
