Coloradoan Anti-Abortionist to be charged with Terrorism The police in Colorado is thinking of charging a man, named Dear, with terrorism. Dear have been talking incoherent things about ‘baby parts’ after being arrested and is said to be a very strong anti-abortionist. Dear has been arrested few days back for barging in Planned Parenthood clinic armed and then suddenly opening fire.
The goal is to defund Planned Parenthood for a year which means tax payers would stop paying. They want this to stop because this organization supports abortions and they are responsible for more than 300,000 of them per year in which they receive hundreds of millions tax payer dollars (http://www.focusonthefamily.com/socialissues/promos/defund-planned-parenthood). As I’m thinking about the steps in how a bill becomes a law, there are many factors that can help/hurt it. First off, a bill is introduced by a senator or representative (pg. 195).
The Constitution was written to give the United States government structure. The Constitution grants rights to the federal government, but also to the individual people. The Griswold v Connecticut case first came about from a law enacted in 1879 by the state of Connecticut. The law stated “Any person who uses any drug, medicinal article or instrument for the purposes of preventing conception shall be fined not less than forty dollars or imprisoned not less than sixty days”. This prevented people in the state of Connecticut to be unable to use any type, or method of birth control.
Miranda Carpenter Hypothesis There are many events in today’s society that has both positively, and negatively affected the consumers. One recent issue, is the plan to cut funding to Planned Parenthood Agencies. That being said, it is easy to depict that the number of unplanned pregnancies will increase, resulting in a higher number of Medicaid recipients. One sector of the debate on cutting the funding is the assumption of a selfish government, taking funding away from female medical services.
In light of the recent “controversy” surrounding Bernie Sanders and Planned Parenthood, I feel that it’s necessary to point out the mans incredibly consistent record in support women’s issues and the right to choose. Bernie Sanders is a staunch believer in the fact that women should have the fundamental right to control their bodies when it comes to sexual and reproductive health. He’s received both a 0 percent rating from The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), and a 100 percent rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America. According to The NRLC, Sanders has voted against the pro-life position more than 100 times in his federal legislative career. Let me just quote a couple of things that The NRLC notes about Sanders pro-choice
Planned Parenthood Hearing The Congressional "hearing" of Planned Parenthood was more interrogation than listening tour. It was political grandstanding of the worst order. Only in the US do we have a "serious" political party who spend their time and taxpayer resources attempting to legislate their citizen's sex lives and keep (poor) women in reproductive chains. I guess when the world's problems get too complicated for tiny minds, talking about sex is the best option.
Moriah Adams October 28, 2015 Current Events Paper Planned Parenthood Executive Harvesting Baby Body Parts An upsetting video was released recently that features comments from Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s senior director of medical services, where she was describing how some doctors conduct abortions in order to leave fetal body parts in tact so that they can be harvested and sold. Actors were placed in a meeting with this doctor using hidden cameras to capture what she and her practice were doing behind closed doors. The woman was shockingly flippant about the whole subject and spoke of unborn babies, organs and body parts as if it is nothing more than a business strategy.
Obamacare grants 47 million women the access to preventative health services, services that are needed for women because 52% of women reported that before the act they did not undergo these health screenings because of cost ("ObamaCare and Women”). Services include mammogram screenings, sexually transmitted disease tests, contraception counseling and tests, and many other services necessary in living a healthy life. With women's health being an issue that is still in debate regarding how much coverage it should receive, Obamacare gives women who can not afford these necessary screenings a chance to obtain them. Without these screenings, pregnancy complications can go undetected, cancers may not be caught, along with numerous other women's health issues. On the other hand, the GOP plan would defund Planned Parenthood, the organization that provides many of the free screening services to women.
Planned Parenthood likes to brag about their services, especially about the contraceptives service and how much they have helped prevent pregnancies, but the truth is that cancer screening and preventive services at Planned Parenthood has decreased by more than 50 percent since 2004. And abortion services has
Can we survive if Planned Parenthood was defunded? Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization that does research into and gives advice on contraception, family planning, and reproductive problems. They work to educate and empower individuals to make independent, informed, decisions about their sexual reproductive lives. Planned Parenthood also provides information, healthcare, and promote public policies that make those services available to all. Defunding would cause serious devastation amongst millions of people.
These services are cervical cancer screenings, pap tests, pelvic exams, emergency contraception and birth control. Planned Parenthood plays an important toll on women 's sexual health care; especially young women. According to the U.S National Center for Health Statistics 15.2% of women between the ages of 15-19 are on the pill. While 6.4% women in the same age ranking use condoms. Having an organization such as Planned Parenthood, makes it easier for women to be put on the pill or receive condoms for safe sex.
This was the first legislation to criminalize an abortion procedure since the Roe v. Wade ruling. The law forbade the procedure, even if a woman's health was endangered, forbade doctors to recommend an abortion, even if it is medically appropriate to protect the health of the woman, required prison terms and financial penalties for doctors who performed abortions, and allowed male partners or parents to sue the woman if she had the procedure. ‘March for Women's Lives’ took place on April 25, 2004, and was the largest and most diverse pro-choice demonstration in history. Planned Parenthood played a leadership role in organizing the event. More than one million Americans gathered in Washington, D.C. to protest the new policies created by George W. Bush.
The Planned Parenthood website provides a lot of useful information for users that had an unplanned pregnancy or any type of regular pregnancy. It is a good website that can help you make different decision regarding of pregnancy, general health care, relationship, abortion, etc. Personally, I do not agree or believe that abortion should be allowed because it is the easy way out for irresponsible sex. Of course, there are different circumstances that having an abortion will be the mother only option, but other than that it should be allowed. I should state first that I am Christian, and I strongly believe that aborting a baby is the same thing as killing a person.
“Planned Parenthood is proud of its vital role in providing young people with honest sexuality and relationship information in classrooms and online to help reduce our nation’s alarmingly high rates of teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections” (“Who We Are”). It’s important to teach people of the risk of sexual activity and steps on how to keep a healthy lifestyle. Recently Planned Parenthood has helped less fortunate countries that do not have access to health and reproductive care, some of the countries being Africa and Latin America. “Planned Parenthood Federation of America is also a founding member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, based in London” (“Who We Are”). Planned Parenthood has been around for quite a long time, having many supporters and donors that provide health care around
