In Plato’s Allegory/Myth of the Cave Plato makes many advances towards how people are stuck in a cave, and in the story the people are locked in chains and are forced to look forward and nowhere else because the chains that hold them. In the story if the people spoke they would only speak of what they know and that is what is currently there in the cave which were the shadows in front of them. If someone were to get out of this prison known as the cave and head into the light, they would question what they saw and would not be accustomed to it immediately and would have to get used to it. This person will question everything, and they will start to grasp how everything works and what its purpose is. This in a way relates to how a kid or adolescent is brought up by strict parents. “These human beings have been here since birth, and their legs and necks have been chained so they cannot move” (Plato). In a way a kid’s parents are the chains restricting the people for they can determine what you learn, what you do and how you make choices regarding your life. If you are in a very strict family then there might be a lot of restrictions on what you do, and sometimes the choices you make regarding them can either hurt you or help. What life choices you make are also influenced by your parents. If your parents all your life had said things like focus on your career and education and then love and friends because education will get you farther and make you happier then when it comes to the opportunity to make the choice between education and love then you are probably going to choose education because that is what you are taught to choose. Everything you choose is probably going to be the result of how your parents raised
