Plato’s Allegory of the Cave and Confucius’s ideas is the most interesting topics that has the most impact on me, and I think there are meaningful to share. I think the idea can apply to people’s daily life and has a tremendous meaning. Therefore, I want to share my personal reflection from what I learned from Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. The summary of Allegory of the Cave is a theory about human perception that Plato observes, and Plato states knowledge should be learn from philosophical reasoning, and it distinguishes how people mistakenly think they know the truth and people who really understand the truth. Plato states: “how could they see anything but the shadows if they were never allowed to move their head”. In other word, this quote means people would never see the truth if they are not allowed to look at things in different perspective. I agree with this statement very much because it is very important for people to have an individual and critical thinking idea, or they will never receive any new or real information. One example that I can think of is how certain country’s government political action. There are some countries that often limit people’s though because they worry new idea will bring to rebellion. For example, one example is North Korea. In North Korea, people only receive news from the public TV channel that is owned and controlled by the local government, so most of the news are filtered by the government. These news are on in favour for the government, and any unfavourable information will be blocked. In this way, people’s view are blocked, and their ideas are limited. However, is this truly the real way that government should do to run the country. I do not want to write down my personal political view on this subject, but I want to use this example to share that people will not see that real truth if their heads are not allowed to
