The Raven: Plot Summary A late and dark winter night, a man is reading in his room. He is heartbroken over the loss of his beloved Lenore. On the edge of falling asleep, the man hears a knock at the door. He opens the door and no one is there. The man believes hearing a knock, but it is easier for him to think it was the wind. He tries to avoid another noise and opens his window. A peculiar raven flies right in his room and lands on a statue. The man asked the raven what his name was, but it only answered “nevermore”. He finds it very odd for a bird to answer with such a sophisticated word. The bird’s answer didn’t make any sense to him.
