Pluralism In American Politics

356 Words2 Pages
Pluralism is when a group of diverse minorities work together to govern. Many groups come together to help govern and influence others. This is an accurate way to describe American politics because it’s more like a democracy, where people of different backgrounds and groups can come together and voice their opinion, rather than a single person dictating the decisions (Reynold, 1999). A pluralistic government also has many centers of power, like the American government (Janda, 2008). The American government has many layers of power: the local government, the state government, and the federal government. However, pluralism isn’t the best example of describing American politics because all interests and problems aren’t being represented equally.
