Always Something More Beautiful “Always Something More Beautiful” is a poem by Stephen Dunn, born in Forest Hills, NY. I got attracted to this poem, because it reminded me when I was at the Regionals for a Cross-Country race and reflected how humans’ life can be fair or beautiful. The cluster “time, clock, finish” clarifies for a measurement that refers to a competitive race.

My younger sister, Anna, is an accomplished and impressive artist in her own right, but she is the type of person to constantly downplay her own talent and think that she is not good compared to others. An example of this is when she drew a picture of someone’s eye freehand, and the drawing was incredible! It looked extremely lifelike and was absolutely stunning. She tried to tell me that it was nothing, that it was not very good and that she had not taken much time to draw it, but I shot those negative thoughts down immediately, telling her that it was an amazing piece of art and that she should consider entering an art competition with it. She did not end up entering that particular piece, but later she entered an art show with a different

A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry is a play based off a poem by Langston Hughes called A Dream Deferred. Many of the characters actions show similarities with the imagery of the poem. One correlation however stands out from the rest. A character named Willy Harris ran away with $6,500 of Walter Younger’s money which they had planned to invest in a liquor store. The line in the poem “...or fester like a sore and then run” reflects the actions of Willy Harris in the play.
