The Halo by C. Dale Young, begins with a poem I find to be very powerful. The author begins by talking about an individual lying in a hospital bed, resembling an angel with a halo. The narrative the author uses makes the poem real and intriguing. As you begin to read the other poems in the novel, you feel as if you are him. Fighting the demons of his wings as well as fighting all of the other demons he is facing. The pictures he helps draw in your head help you to understand the point he is trying to get across. The themes of this book of poems like are very repetitive and reoccurring but personally I enjoy it.
