The Effectiveness of Police Body Cameras Since the shooting of Michael Brown in 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri, police violence has brought about the idea of police body cameras. (Ferguson unrest: From shooting to nationwide protests) Body cameras are small cameras that clip on to an officer 's uniform or are worn as a headset, and record audio and video of the officer 's interactions with the public. Sometimes people can see the camera and know they are being recorded, so they won’t act foolishly. If the people are aware they are being recorded, then they won’t do anything bad because they know that there is proof of it. Proof shows the absolute truth. When police officers have the proof, being innocent or guilty wouldn’t be a question. Finally, police body cameras can help remind police officers the sequence of events that happened for their statements. Sometimes things can happen so fast, the officer or victim could have a hard time remembering what happened step by step. Adrenaline could distract the mind from remembering the details of what happened. Cameras can capture every detail of the incident so that no details would be missed. In conclusion, police body cameras have enhanced the world and made things easier by providing us with the truth.
