Narrative Narrative description of my police interview
The weather was dark and gloomy outside with a hint of pumpkin spice scent from the Dunkin Donuts across the street, the temperature was slightly cold and winter-like. The faint smell of old wood emerge to my nostrils as I came closer to the 103rd Precinct. I slid my right hand against the stone brick wall and came to a reality of being close to a safe place. There was a Caucasian male with a full mustache, wearing the blue officer uniform, leaning on a cop car and drinking a cup of coffee. Edison “The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are, first, hard work; second, stick-to-itiveness; third, common sense.” relates to my interview with Officer Dale, because he never gave up on his goals and continued on working for his goals. Dale studied very hard and received his rewards of getting the police officer position in the New York Police Department. His duty is to protect the community and enforce laws on individuals; no matter how challenging it becomes.
The person I chose to interview is a police officer who works in Jamaica Avenue; Queens 103 precincts. Officer Dale is a hard working individual and accomplished his goals through the disappointments and changes in his life. I have never seen or spoke with him before; this was my first time interviewing someone within my career interest. He agreed for me to interview him while he was working and it lasted for about thirty minutes. I was very excited and willing to interview him because my goal is to become a police in my future. Officer Dale works with the New York Police Department as an police patrol officer; his daily duties are working within the traffic, theft, injuries, car wreck cases, protecting citizens and arresting individuals breaking the

He said he was so close to arresting the kidnapper but he vanished. Dale thought that if his partner and him took more time, there could have been justice for the little girl’s family, but it was too late. A difficult time he thought was challenging was the first arrest he made being a police officer, he felt guilty because the cause was minor but he had to realize that it is his duty to arrest people who broke the law. This job requires protecting citizens from criminals and keeping the environment safe. Another difficult situation that he had to handle was the challenges of figuring out the causes to accidents and injuries/deaths. He stated that “It takes patience and a lot of time to determine what really
