Political ideologies are linked to welfare and family policy because their personal belief systems (e.g. values) affect the way they vote on policies. Another linkage that political ideologies play in welfare and policy is the financial backings of large corporations, lobbyists, and labor unions. For example, if the political ideologies are for fair trade, labor, and society than the focus of left-wing thinkers (e.g. liberal, progressive, etc.) is that government should spend money for the support of vulnerable citizens. If the ideology is individuality, fair trade, support for employers more than labor, and free trade/ market, then that is considered to be right wing thinkers (e.g. conservative, traditional, and) and the focus is on self
