The problem is that recipients of welfare are being added by the minute, and none of them are willing to leave the program because of the benefits it provides. The U.S Government has social welfare systems that supports lower class in need. From home providing programs like “Welfare” and “Section 8 housing” to food providing programs like “Food Stamps” and “WIC “( Women, Infants, and Children ). According to the Oxford Dictionary, ideology is a word that roots in late 18th century France, and defined as “A system of ideas and ideals, especially one which forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy.” (Angus, Pearsall, and Hanks, 869) This means that ideology is structures of ideas that are specifically foundation for different political and economic theories; for example, socialism and environmentalism are ideologies. Disregard the fact that the word ideology was rooted from 18th century there were still political theories and policies before late 18th century. This fact has prompted a relative extensive literature and research field on how welfare states acts and evolves. One of the more prominent topics of this research agenda, has been why some countries redistribute more than others, a conclusive answer is yet to be found but most of the work on the subject starts with the premise of the Meltzer-Richard(1981) model, which entails that the democratic institutions empower the lower classes whom stand to benefit most from more redistribution.

The values and ideologies that are most important to my future practice include respect for the inherent dignity and worth of persons, service to humanity and competence in professional practice. First, my value of providing respect for the inherent dignity and worth of persons is important to me and my future practice because it allows me to see the uniqueness in all my clients and subsequent cases. Moreover, it further guides me to allow my clients to be self-determined individuals.
