Have you ever observed a political meeting where all the many different people that make up our federal government attended including the President of the United States? If you looked closely you may have seen a divide between two groups of people. One group is title the Democrats the other titled Republicans or in other words conservatives and liberals. These two groups of people have been divided ever since the establishment of the United States. They each are a part of the government’s democracy and appeal to a vast group of people in the United States, but their social views, political views and views on personal responsibility are completely different. The Democrat party has many views based upon the newer generation of people and emphasizes government assistance for individuals who are less fortunate and need guidance. The social views of an Democrat are progressive. They consist of topics such as abortion, Democrats are in favor of abortion clinics receiving funding from the government and abortion becoming accepted. Gay rights has also been on the Democrats list of things deem as important, they support gay marriage becoming legal in the United States. Democrats political view has progressive topics based upon Government assistance being given to all citizens, the Liberals support the Government having regulations services for everyone such as free healthcare. Lastly Democrats view on personal responsibility consists of the people being able to look for the government to provide structures that protect individual rights for an equal …show more content…

They both also appeal to a massive amount of people in the United States and around the world. People everywhere is either affiliated with one or the other and even though some may be in the middle, they still often lean to one side or the other. As I discussed in my preceding paragraphs the conservative and liberal parties are also very different on just about everything. In their social views they contrasted in the topic of abortion and gay marriage. While Democrats favored abortion clinics and favored the right of gay marriage, Republicans opposed these ideas and favored the right to bear arms and death penalty. Their political views contrasted on the topics of government assistance. Republicans favored a large amount of government assistance for the less fortunate such as free healthcare for all while Democrats opposed a large government and believed in a smaller government that has less political involvement and more responsibility on the individual. Lastly these two groups contrast in their views on personal responsibility. Democrats favored each individual having personal responsibility and the it is the governments role to make sure each individual carries out that responsibility, they support laws being made to benefit the society as a whole while
