Ponyboy Ponyboy is the main character in the outsiders telling the book. He is a member of the Greasers and is the youngest of his brothers and the gang. The main setting for Ponyboy was at the park by the fountain. This is where everything turns. Johnny kills Bob by the fountain so Ponyboy and Johnny had to leave and everything after that happens because of that night. Ponyboy’s unique symbol is gold. Toward the end of the book Johnny told Ponyboy to stay gold. He meant stay true to you, Ponyboy was different than everyone else. He was smart and he knew he had much more to live up to in life than just being in a gang. One of the conflicts are the fire at the church him and Johnny stayed at.
