One of my favorite personal works is Poor Richard’s Almanack. I first published it on December 28, 1732, as a sort of hybrid between a year-long calendar and a handbook for 1733 that people could consult and reference throughout the entire year. The idea for the Almanack, which was published under the persona of “Richard Saunders,” came when I was considering various ways I could support myself financially. This was ultimately the reason I decided to write the book, since I was unable to find a good source of income elsewhere. Of course, there were a lot of other books of the same type on the market, so I had to spice up the general format for mine.
