Have you ever wondered how are new music trends developed? Pop music started with the music style of Rock. Rock ‘n’ Roll was very popular to teenagers in the 50s. This style is even popular still to this day. The music of the 1950s had a huge influence on the American Culture. After the music, this style spread into movies and musicals. Which started the new era of Rock ‘n’ Roll. The birth of Rock ‘n’ Roll in the 50s made music what it is today. Some of the biggest stars in the 50s where Bing Crosby, Jerry Lewis, Glenn Ford, Marilyn Monroe, and Doris Day (And Elvis Presley) (“15 Biggest Stars” 1-5). This is vital because it shows who some of the biggest, most popular, stars were. Bing Crosby ,who was in Going my Way, “studied law at Gonzaga University in Spokane but was more interested in playing the drums and singing with a local band” (“15 Biggest Stars”). This depicts how some famous musicians or actors don’t always have acting or singing as their first career idea. Glenn Ford ,who was in the movie Superman, “was born Gwyllyn Samuel Newton Ford in Sainte-Christine-d’Auvergne, Quebbe, Canada…” (“15 Biggest Stars” 3). This shows that it does not matter where you are from to become a star. Marilyn Monroe from the movie Some Like it Hot “was born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926, in the Charity Ward of Los Angeles General Hospital” (“15 Biggest Stars” 3) but “Elvis Presley (1935-77) was the most successful artist of the mid-1950s Rock’n’Roll explosion” According to Brackett (Brackett 94). Even though people were a big part of the birth of Rock ‘n’ Roll the movies and musicals that they were in help spread the new
