In the Odyssey, Poseidon plays a major role in Odysseus travel getting back home to Ithaca. Poseidon was the god of the sea, earthquakes, flood, drought, and horses. His parents were Cronus and Rhea. He had five sibling and they “divided the power of the world”. Poseidon 's siblings were Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Zeus. They were all gods of something important. Since Poseidon was the God of the sea, he had a magical trident. This trident was crafted by the Cyclopes. It was the same Cyclops that Odysseus and his men stabbed in the cave. After the Trojan War, Odysseus blamed all of the gods for not helping them through the war that lasted ten years.
