The Mongols were a very dominant army during the 13th century. They were so dominant that they almost ruled all of China. Kublai Khan took the emperor of China as the Mongol leader. His dynasty was named the Yuan dynasty. Many things were changed under the rule of the Yuan dynasty. One of the most important changes was that he abolished the Civil Service Exams. Instead, he appointed people he knew and trust as the government officials. Another positive effect that took place during the Mongols rule was trade. The Mongols really liked trading with other countries and valued it a lot. They set up rest stations every 20 miles and where the could pick up food and sleep.
