During the 18th to 19th century, the Industrial Revolution started in Britain and then spread to the rest of Europe. The Industrial Revolution was the start of a new beginning where there were advances in transportation and machines were invented to do the work of people. Inventions including steam technology and the smelting iron transformed the way we use transport and has greatly increased the production of everyday goods. There were many impacts, both negative and positive. Negative impacts included the loss of jobs, overcrowded cities, and disease due to poor sanitation. Some positive impacts included products made faster, the trade made it easier to access different goods and time for education was offered. Everything that we have today we owe to the industrial revolution.

Both positive and negative shaped our world. For example, there was positive impacts on factories such as more than one person could work on one product meaning it was much faster and overall more effective. It also created change and progress our transportation. A result of the new transportation was world trade which had a big impact as it meant that products like coffee, sugar, maize from all over the world could be accessed in Europe. Especially sugar as it was very popular among the Europeans. Britain starting the industrial revolution also had an impact on its social status making it known as a superpower. There were many job opportunities in factories for people to work on or oversee the machines. On the other hand, because of the revolution and inventions made children could receive education/schooling instead of helping on the farm or working in factories.
