Gentrification brings positive long term effects to neighborhoods and cities nationwide. The economy is most impacted and most beneficial outcome for residents. Economical growth, local job opportunities, increased income, higher property value and increasing tax base are all positive outcomes of gentrification.
Gentrification is the process of renovating lower class urban neighborhoods to satisfy middle-higher class standards. As gentrification is taking on the United States, it is positively impacting the economy. It allows the lower income communities at the chance of opportunities to better their overall wellbeing in society. Gentrification brings restaurants and retail stores to new areas, creating an opportunity at economic growth. Tourism brings revenue to a community and as retail stores and restaurants open, it creates local job opportunities. In lower income communities supermarkets and retail stores are limited creating the possibility residents pay more for goods and services. When a building renovation takes place, the property value increases thus, property tax increases.
