Introduction: Thesis: The 1920s was an era of dramatic social and political change that brought along the greatest change for women. After World War I, the image of women completely transformed and the changing attitudes of America, allowed them to enroll in colleges, enter the workforce, participate in politics and play a greater role in society and public life. The 1920s are generally regarded as the roaring 20s, and they were roaring. In the cities, wealth and prosperity flourished and art, such as music and literature, was beholden by all. For the urban citizens of America, the 1920s were a roaring good time. However, the same could not be said for Susan Campbell. She was a farmer in Minnesota.
The 1920’s was a good time period. There were many good things that happened which helped improve living conditions. World War 1 caused poverty and depression so people were looking for jobs and happiness in their lives. The 1920’s were the best of times because there was a rise in industries, more money to spend, and more individual freedom. Social and Economic life in the early twentieth century was improved by the new industries.
The Roaring 20s was a time for many changes in America. The 1920s brought about changes stemming from both liberal movements and conservative movements. Liberal changes brought to the public more sports role models which inspired and new women, or flappers, who strived for equality. Conservative changes increased laws on vice, ideas of racism, and feelings of nativism. This makes the 1920s both a liberal and conservative decade.
The 1920s marked the start of modern America. The 1920s was a prosperous time period in history. This was a result of the economic boom following World War I. Americans were relieved after the Great War was over. This era influenced decades of reform from traditional ways. A modernized America began to emerge.
Have you ever realized how far the 1920s were away from now? How different everything was and what all they created and repealed. For instance, the Prohibition Act and its faults that it had caused. Such as the dividing of the Nation, becoming the Dry’s and the Wet’s argument, speakeasies, crime rates went up extremely, etc. How many females and organizations were behind the movement, like the anti-saloon league, the Methodist board, and the main group behind it, the Women’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU).
The 1920’s was a wonderful time period for the United States, but at the same time it was a horrible time period too. What is wondrous about the 1920’s was that women were able to gain more freedom. Also, the Jazz Era came about during this time period. There were also numerous amounts of execrable things, but only one part in history stands out the most. This was known as the Prohibition.
The Roaring Twenties, characterized as a progressive era toward changes and advances, it was a start for freedom and independence for women. Women gained political power by gaining the right to vote. They changed their traditional way to be, way to act and dress to gain respect, and the liberty of independence. Society had different ways of ideals and the ways women were willing to do were disapproved of, and it was wrong for lots of different people, including women from the older generation. In the 1920’s women went through a lot of changes that made them a free spirit, changes that made them what they are now and having the liberty of being independent.
The 1920s had both negative and positive effects, not just one or the other it depends on how you look at it. The 1920s was a time after WW1 when America thrived, new inventions were being developed that made everyday life more efficient. Women had just gained the right to vote, and equality in America was moving forward. Most were financially stable, and it was a time when most were carefree and happy.
The roaring twenties are exactly as they sound. Many things happened in the 1920 's we made some accomplishments that the U.S. is proud of but with those good times comes hard taking two steps forwards and one step back. The silent generation as one would call it ( people born in the mid 1920 to early 1940) was the generation that started it off for everyone today. The 1920s in America, also known as the Roaring Twenties, was a time of political, social, economic, technological, and cultural developments. These developments created new changes and helped shape the ways of life of the American people. Women played a significant example in social changes. From improvements in the education system, to minor developments such as the changes in attire. Another major development was economic production.
The Roaring Twenties brought the world back to life through fashion, music, and inventions during the time after war. People wanted to have something to look forward to, and as a result, the Roaring Twenties became one of the most modern decades of our time. The Roaring Twenties occurred from 1920-1929 after the first World War. The world wanted excitement in their lives, which led to a decade that will never be forgotten. Some inventions made during this time were cars, electric radios, and silent movies.
The Roaring Twenties was a prime era for women. Because of the toils of many strong women, ideals were flipped on their head, to America’s benefit. In the late 1800’s, two women, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, quickly realized that women would not be able to share their political views unless given the right to vote. Because of the fact that women had basically no other societal roles besides housework, they were not respected during this time period.
The Roaring Twenties were a grand time, and full of changes for women both mentally and physically. Women were able to break away from the confines of a society that men bound them to for so long and the results of this shift are still evident in our society today. Because of the emerging of the new woman and the Flapper girls, women are able to vote, express themselves through self-determined styles, be equal to men in positions in society, and have more confidence as a gender at large. The activities, styles and ideas of women in the 1920s were risky, looked down upon by some, progressive and influential. The changing of their clothes, hair, makeup, political stance, ability to be in the workforce, participation in the sex culture, use of
