Josh appears to have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). According to Grubaugh (2014), PTSD is a psychiatric disorder resulting from a life- threatening event and requires a history of exposure to a traumatic event (Criterian A) that results in a minimum threshold of symptoms across four clusters: intrusion, avoidance, negative alterations in cognitions and mood, and alterations in arousal and reactivity (criterion B through E). Josh appears to have PTSD because he experienced a traumatic event of watching his fiancée being hit and killed by a drunk driver, he shows signs of the following symptoms, intrusion, avoidance, negative alterations. It was also reported that Josh completely ignores the part of town that the accident occurred and quit his job because he could not bear going to work as it was in the same part of town. It was indicated that Josh once enjoyed these activates. It was also indicated that Josh has become detached and is emotionally flat. Josh is exhibiting a signs of negative alterations in cogitation and mood by his flat affect. He is also exhibiting signs of sleep difficulties with his daily nightmares about the incident which could be a sign of alterations in arousal and reactivity symptoms.
