New Styles of Art Artifact During the 1920s there were were many new artists. Two famous artists were Georgia O’Keeffe and Edward Hopper. Both artists had very different styles of art.
In the 1920’s there was a lack of Canadian art in the country, the art was all European. The beautiful scenery was too difficult to be painted, until The Group of Seven joined together and impacted the future of Canadian art. The Group of Seven were a group of men who would rent paintings out to people just for they could use the money to buy painting supplies. They wanted to prove that the scenery could be brought to life and shown to the world.

The economy was relatively stable, and people’s lives were generally sound and enjoyable. One aspect that greatly contributed to the success of the “Roaring Twenties” was the modern and innovative inventions that were being created.
Since early ages, mothers have always criticized the ways their daughters acted. In the 1920s criticisms were taken a step further by the flappers, who completely revolutionized the view on females. Flappers in the 1920s had an impact on women for the future. Who they were, what they wore, and what their morals were was how their impacts changed the future for all the females. “The term "flapper" originated in the 1920s and refers to the fashion trend for unfastened rubber galoshes that "flapped" when walking, an attribution reinforced by the image of the free-wheeling flapper in popular culture.”
the invention of the radio introduced the people to different lifestyles and their way of living. “The movies taught people how to dress, talk and appear sexy. ”Society clearly took an impact during the 1920’s and were influenced on how they talked and acted which changed society. The invention of television also helped the sports industry. The number of fans doubled along with the money brought in from entertainment.
During the 1920s, Word War I had just ended and people were ready to celebrate. Although 1920 had its good times and perks, some bad things were going on, like cultural clashes. The first major cultural clash was the Great Migration. The Great Migration is known as the relocation of more than 6 million African Americans from the rural south to the urban north cities. The second major cultural clash was the national origins act.
Modern day America is an economic superpower. However, one and a half centuries ago, this was not the case. In the late 1800’s there was a large boom in terms of population and industrialization in the United States. From this stemmed many new technological innovations, innovations which could be applied to the creation of alluring products for the masses. This led to the rise of a prominent American consumer culture, which was a driving force in the great economic growth of the Gilded Age.
From the start Booker T. Washington always had a burning desire for education in which he saw a way to escape ignorance and become equipped to help others. After the war had ended, it leads him to leave home and with the value of hard work and the help of the headmaster of the school, General Samuel C. Armstrong. Washington was able to accomplish his goal and graduate from Hampton in 1875. Throughout the years, Armstrong offered Washington a position to run a new school in Tuskegee, Alabama for African Americans. Then rather join politics education was important for Washington in the sense that he saw this opportunity to give back to his community by cultivating them not just through basic education, but as well as industrial education.
The 1920s carried much change in society. Some of these changes were more rights for women, jazz music, and prohibition. The people of the 1920s were disillusioned by society lacking in idealism and vision, sense of personal alienation, and Americans were obsessed with materialism and outmoded moral values (The Roaring Twenties).Cultural changes were strongly influenced by the destruction of World War I ending 1918. America needed to recover and with it youth rebelled against the norms of the older generations.
1920s Advertising During the 1920s, advertisement started to increase and expand. Many ideas and tactics were used to lure the attention of the consumers. After World War I, America started to grow with a stable and growing economy. This flourishment made many American's live out the 1920s in prosperity.
With the help of propaganda posters, artists were able to motivate Americans, young and old, to contribute to the role of the United States in the war. Posters often contained children smiling and holding a war bond, with certain words like, “Buy a War Bond today”, or, “Support our troops by buying a War Bond”. However, they didn’t have to involve children. One famous example is “Uncle Sam”, used a propaganda poster to help persuade people to sign up for the draft, was originally published as the cover for the July 6, 1916, issue of Leslie's Weekly this portrait of "Uncle Sam" went on to become--according to its creator, James Montgomery Flagg--"the most famous poster in the world."
When the term “The Roaring Twenties” is thrown out into conversation, glittering views of Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby fill the heads of many, and rightfully so. The 1920s were ultimately an iconic, defining era in American history. Before this period, many traditional, Victorian values were continuously instilled in the population for generations. Then, the way people dressed, spoke, and behaved took a drastic turn that can even be traced back to the enactment of Prohibition throughout the United States.
Productions from famous film studios featured the well-known stars for a time. Radio stations broadcasted the popular topics, along with advertisements and music. Newspapers and magazines updated the newest information and offered diverse articles which hooked the readers with tempting visuals and
After movies had sound and color, film makers continued to better their productions and attract audiences worldwide. Movies in the 1920s differed and were similar to the films that come out today. Back then, movies used attractive girls to sell tickets. Jean Harlow, Mae West, Clara Bow, and Greta Garbo were very famous in the 1920s.
