The law can come in many shapes and forms, it can be literal or talking about a certain dynamic between people. Dynamics can have a powerful effect on someone and could cause many problems. Montana 1948 demonstrates the control and power some people have over others and how it can shape how things turn out. David, Wesely, and Frank are characters used to portray the want of power and control and the difference of the type of power and control First and foremost, David is young, but wants to be treated like an adult so that he could have some kind of power in the form of responsibility and control in the form of his family’s relationships. The Hayden men seem to have a connection of wanting to change what they are seen as, and use power and control to get what they want. In the end they all fell victim to their power, David lost the connections he yearned to keep, Wesley quit his job and lost the power and control he had over justice in Montana, and Frank’s necessity to keep up his control killed him. In a way, the theme of power and control was a cautionary tale about what happens when power conflicts with others’ powers and how control can consume someone. In the end, no one has total power or control over everything, and if they did it would eat them up inside until nothing's left except a husk of a power hungry person that eventually is nothing, for power and control leaves nothing once someone doesn’t have
