The play Macbeth, one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays, has been re-imagined and recreated in several ways since its origination due to its continued relevance as time progresses. The play is still relevant in the conflict presented through the character engagements and interactions as seen by Macbeth’s internal conflict and the physical conflict he encounters on his search for power, killing many in his wake. This play is significant to me as it is representative of our society in America as people are power hungry in the search of money, this is reflective of the theme of Macbeth as it displays power leading corruption as the central conflict is driven by Macbeth battling himself and the corruption he experiences. I would set my version of Macbeth in modern day Wall Street. I have chosen Wall Street as my setting as there are differentiations in rank, and most importantly it exemplifies the theme of power leading corruption. However, to display a middle class, picture Macbeth initially in a polo shirt and jeans, a simple outfit representative of a simple life in modern times, however, as he gains power he eventually wears a deep red suit with a black button down. The shape of his suit is identical to the structured and important space of King Duncan’s however, as king, Macbeth presents a formidable and bloody future as he drowns in his own guilt and fear. The significance of shape in Macbeth’s costume resembles that of King Duncan as he has become a king himself but, I chose a deep color to represent the sins the Macbeth has committed tainting the purity of his title as king, while still presenting his upward mobility in the rank of the hierarchical
