In the book series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin, published in 1998 and is still unfinished up to this writing, the fight of power between characters is portrayed with many self made monarchs and warring against each other. It shows a realistic side of medieval political power through fiction. Each of the various movements of the nobles had an effect on the common citizens and it was shown in the books how every action has their own opposite reaction and this is where the constitution comes in. There is a lack of a properly written constitution in Westeros. This results in many nobles abusing their power for their own benefits while the citizens are left to fend for themselves. From Slaver’s Bay to Westeros: Implication of Daenerys’ rule Before Daenerys started ruling in Meereen, slavery is its main import and a source of profit for many. While in Meereen, she saw the brutality of their culture and how the Sons of Harpy mistreat the slaves. Considering that A Song of Ice and Fire is still not finished, no one knows how Daenerys will rule Westeros but if we look at her rule at Meereen, we can predict some of her behavior that she might display in Westeros court. While Daenery’s still young on the books, she still held some her idealistic views which results in freeing the slaves in Meereen and executing some Sons of Harpy. If this still goes on up to her getting to Westeros, I can say that Daenerys will give more power to the smallfolk and remove some of the lords in their position. She can end up like Margaery where smallfolk fawns over her and idolizes her as long as she tries to keep her reputation clean. She can also be compared to a real life queen, Elizabeth I. Elizabeth’s reign in England was considered ‘The Golden Age’ where there is peace and England was stable. If Daenerys do end up in Westeros this can happen as: 1) She has a greater claim to throne than other warring kings, 2) The things she had done to Meereen can spread by smallfolk through word of mouth as long as she still have the people loyal to her spreading good image of
