Actions with to Much Power Always Have Consequences In the novel “ The Island of Dr. Moreau” written by H.G Wells many themes are shown but one that is most interesting is, how one of the three essentially “human” characters abuse the power they have and end up paying for their actions. But all this people in the position of power often believe that nothing can stop them, that they are a “god” an example being Dr. Moreau. The power that is being abused in this novel not only shows that sometimes we see ourselves like god, but also what consequences can occur if we want to much power that we can't handel. All actions one person takes can either have a positive or negative end. Dr. Moreau's specialty is vivisection, it's how he makes the beast people so why would this come back to haunt him? Because He wants these creature to fully functioning humans, and when they revert back to there animalistic ways he takes them to the House of Pain ( beast folks hell) and experiments on them until the doctor believes he was “fixed” the animal side. He works on the puma wanting it to be the best out of all the beast folk and up to his standards. And this action has a consequence that leads to the demise of not only Moreau but all his work, and god like status. This quote shows an example of that your actions have consequences “ We came upon the gnawed and mutilated body of the puma, its shoulder-bone smashed by a bullet, and perhaps twenty yards farther found at last what we sought. Moreau lay face downward in a trampled space in a canebrake. One hand was almost severed at the wrist and his silvery hair was dabbled in blood. His head had been battered in by the fetters of the puma.” (chapter 18) this illustrates the scarred body of the puma who went under vivisection by the hand of Moreau, and the dead and bloodied body of Dr.Moreau who was killed by his own creation, one of his many beast folk the one who was suppose to be the best. H.G Wells thought that an eye for an eye should have been the demise of our “antagonist”
