The episode Jaynestown from the series Firefly, contained a few profound, thought inspiring themes around the power of belief and the concept of faith. I found the quote above to be brilliant in describing the difficult concept of what faith is and the role it plays in people's lives. It is a concept that many faiths preach in churches and self help groups like alcoholics anonymous structure sobriety around. Having faith is an act of bother empowerment as well as Faith is both being empowered by knowing your belief is right and not letting anything change it and being powerless as you surrender all your to the trust to that belief. The power of belief can produce a conviction in us so strong that we can seemingly manifest that belief into our reality. Having these strong convictions (or beliefs) causes us to take certain actions that then allows for the creation of those beliefs. This power of creation our reality is one we all harness, and it feels almost supernatural. This is where faith really gets reinforced also. An example of this is when you feel like your prayers have been answered. When prayering, you invoke a belief that a higher being is listening to you and you have faith in the divine intervention of that higher being in your life.
