It was a beautiful Saturday in Miami Gardens, Florida at the Sun Life Stadium on September 19 . That night there was a big game: The Miami Hurricanes and The Nebraska Cornhuskers battle it out on the football field. The game ended, but the score was tied. Both teams went into overtime. By the time the game ended the Miami Hurricanes had one the game with an ending score of 36-33!
Chris McCandless was in his early 20’s, he was the kind of that guy that wanted to learn and experience life without all of the material things. He wanted to be independent from his parents and friends so Chris did something that would be insane for most of us humans but to him, it wasn’t. He went into the wild of Alaska for months, in fact, McCandless even thought he could make it out alive at the end of his journey. My favorite sentence from this reading had to be, "The arms were in sad shape, because everybody was always sitting on them, but they were pretty comfortable chairs." (Salinger 18). In the short sentence, I furthermore get a glimpse of Holden's voice and personality, this time by seeing him contradict himself. In today’s society, we have former National Football League(NFL) quarterback Collin Kapernick who’s no longer in the NFL because of his protest against racial inequality.
