In the past week, Vice President Joe Biden announced he was not going to run for president this election cycle. Peter Baker and Maggie Habermann for the New York Times in Joe Biden Concludes There’s No Time for a 2016 Run. The Vice President put down any claims of a potential presidential run. He gave the address at the White House Rose Garden with President Obama, his wife, and reporters surrounding him. Though he did have time to still file, his reason was that there really was no time to develop as the other candidates had. This event is important due to the fact that Biden, during the speculation time, was considered a possible obstacle in current frontrunner, Hillary Clinton’s path. Biden had previously ran in 1988, with general appeal across the board, an aspect hard to find in candidates today. Across the country, miniature campaign fundraisers to boost a possible run from him have been noted. This chance of him joining the race has been, as mention before, marked as an obstacle set in Clinton’s path. While Clinton has made no jabs at him, Biden did take his time to mark flaws of her rhetoric on republicans. Even though Joe Biden is not running, his impact is still evident. As a more powerful, older politician, he will have more power with voters as they are more exposed to him. Included with the platform he to make his announcements, he had thousands listening to his message and criticism of the candidates. These flaws pointed out might lead to a change in Clinton and other Democrat’s platform or maybe smaller, a plank. It may become evident in debate, where we could see her expose a softer idea of republicans. An even longer impact is found in how democratic candidates have less competition in regards to the final nomination for party choice comes
