President Personal Statement

On July 23rd, 2002, I decided that I wanted to be President of the United States when I grew up. After watching the news with my mother almost every night since the prior September, I decided that I could handle the job of President when I was grown. I was four at the time, but I had a supreme level of confidence in myself. Every action I have taken since that day has been taken in order to further that goal. Now, I need your help. It would be pretty awesome if I could honestly start this essay with the preceding paragraph. I’d probably have decent chances to earn your scholarship money if that were the case right? Well, I must unfortunately come clean. Most of that paragraph is false. While I did watch the news with my mom and the rest of my family most nights following September 11th, 2001, most nights I did not really comprehend what was happening. I did not start to comprehend politics fully until high school really. Moreover, I did want to be president at an extremely early age, as I am sure many children envision their futures. First of all, lawyers account for one of the unhappiest professions in the world. Second, studying the law is no easy investment of time or money. Even the cheapest law schools force their students to swim in debt and spend three years of their lives nose deep in books on complex, arduous, and sometimes boring studies. Moreover, the legal profession is essentially a trade profession. One should not study law in order to better themselves (although this can be a byproduct), but rather should study it in order to become a lawyer and practice law. Understandably, I am not sure whether or not this is an investment I would like to make. I think that I need more time to think on the matter. Thus, I cannot honestly say that becoming a lawyer is one of my long term career
